The students practiced the reader's theater script all week. The play was about how a "certified weather genius" creatively solves some weather problems in Nebraska in the 1800s. Through the play, we also learned about tall tales and legends like Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill. Today the students performed the play. Everyone did a wonderful job!
Yesterday we all got to witness the surprise reunion of Kyleigh and her dad, who had been deployed in Iraq for a year. Everyone was so happy for both of them! WMUR also captured the moment. You can view the segment here.
As part of our matter unit, the students are learning about how matter changes states. We saw water turn to ice in the freezer. Then, the students participated in the great melting race! They had to figure out how to melt their ice cubes as quickly as possible. The fastest was about 5 minutes! The students worked together and shared ideas and learned that smashing the ice into smaller pieces and applying heat were the best methods.
We then placed our water into petri dishes to find out what will happen over time to our water. Some petri dishes are covered while others are uncovered. The students made predictions about what they expect to happen. Let's see whose predictions turn out to be correct!
I am a third grade teacher in Milford. I am blogging about what is going on in our classroom in order to improve communication with families and the community.
